Lady War Eagles Dominate on Both Sides of the Ball in Season Opener
South Forsyth defeated Creekview 34-0 on Monday night in the opening game of the 2024 season, outgaining them 158 yards to 18. On offense, QB Cameron Brock was a very efficient 12 for 14 for 117 yards, 2 TD passes and 3 PAT pass conversions. Caroline Harrington went 7 for 13 for 35 yards and threw 1 TD and had 1 PAT pass conversion. Ella Thongsouk caught 3 passes for 52 yards, including a TD and also hauled in the longest completion of the day with a 34 yarder. Ella Jenkins had a TD reception and a PAT conversion, newcomer Quincey Hilton had a 17 yard TD reception, Sophia Vallianatos had 3 catches including a PAT conversion, and Reese Epstein added 3 receptions including a PAT conversion. The defense was outstanding, completely shutting down the Creekview offense and scoring on two pick-6’s, one by Mya Wende for 25 yards and the other by Sophia Vallianatos for 20 yards. Hilton also picked off a pass. Meera Chauhan had an incredible 3 sack night, including a safety. Catherine Kolgani added another sack.
South Forsyth Defeats Centennial 20-0 as Defense Comes Up Strong
After a sluggish start on offense, the Lady War Eagles came alive at the end of the second quarter and continued that onslaught for the entire second half. QB Cameron Brock was 18 for 24 for 169 yards, 3 TDs and 2 PAT conversions. Reese Epstein hauled in 5 passes for 54 yards, including a 17 yard TD reception and a PAT conversion. Mya Wende had 3 catches and a 25 yard TD reception. Sammie Sarkady got the remaining TD catch. The defense again was superb, fending off several goal line plays in the first half. Reese Epstein had an interception as did Mya Wende, both at or near the end zone. Wende led the team with 5 tackles. Meera Chauren added another sack, her fourth in the first two games.
LADY WAR EAGLES HANDLE CHATTAHOOCHEE 27-6
South Forsyth had 2 TDs on offense and 2 TDs on defense in their game last week against Chattahoochee. QB Cameron Brock had another solid game, completing 19 of 26 passes for 151 yards to 6 different receivers. She had 1 TD pass and another 3 PAT pass conversions and added a rushing touchdown. Sophia Vallianatos had 4 catches for 48 yards with 1 TD. Reese Epstein has 2 PAT conversions, while Quincy Hilton a game high 5 catches, including a PAT conversion. On defense, Mya Wende had 3 interceptions in the first half. Ella Thongsouk intercepted a pitch early in the game and returned it for a TD. Late in the game she returned another interception 25 yards for a TD. Selah Brindle had the most tackles with 6.
SOUTH FORSYTH COMPLETE SWEEP OF CHATTACHOOCHEE
After defeating Chattahoochee 27-6 in the first game, the Lady War Eagles continued to dominate by blanking the Cougars 25-0 in the nightcap. QB Caroline Harrington was 21 for 29 for 176 yards, 3 TDs and 2 PAT pass conversions. Quincy Hilton scored all 4 TDs, 3 on offense and 1 on defense. The 4 TDS set a single game school record! Cameron Brock caught 6 passes, including both PAT passes, and also added an interception. Selah Brindle added an interception while Ella Jenkins recorded a sack.
LADY WAR EAGLES BEAT THE DEFENDING STATE CHAMPIONS IN OVERTIME 8-7
South Forsyth pulled out am incredible come-from-behind victory over Pope in the first game of the South Forsyth Invitational. Pope scored on their first play from scrimmage but the Lady War Eagles shut them out the rest of way in regulation. QB Cameron Brock was 21-37 for 132 yards with 1 TD pass and one 2 pt conversion pass. She also added an interception on defense. Mya Wende had 6 catches for 61 yards, including the 4th quarter TD that tied up the contest. Reese Epstein caught the decisive 2 point conversion in OT. Sophia Vallianatos led the team on defense with 6 tackles. Our defense was extremely solid and forced Pope to punt on their last four possessions of the game. In the fourth quarter, on their TD-scoring drive, South had two big 4th down conversions.
LADY WAR EAGLES COME FROM BEHIND TO DEFEAT GRAYSON 14-13
After spotting Grayson 2 TDs and the lead in the first half, South Forsyth shut out the Rams in the second half. QB Cameron Brock was a solid 14 for 20 with 2 TDs and 2 PAT pass conversions. Reese Epstein hauled in 1 TD pass and both PAT passes. Quincy Hilton had 5 catches, including the game-tying TD pass. On defense, Selah Brindle and Sophia Vallianatos led the team with 6 tackles each. Meera Chauham had 2 sacks resulting in 7 lost yards. Cameron Brock collected another interception.
Lady War Eagles Drop Their First Game of the Season
Woodstock beat South 19-6 in the third game of the Invitational. Selah Brindle returned an interception 75 yards for the Lady War Eagles only TD. On defense, Reese Epstein had 6 tackles while Selah Brindle recorded 5. Brook Pate had a big 8 yard sack in the second half.
South Blanks Roswell 21-0 to Finish 3-1 in the Flag Football Invitational
The Lady War Eagles defense was superb, intercepting 3 passes (returning one for a touchdown, had 2 sacks (the second sack resulting in a safety). Early in the game, Brook Pate puled down an interception and outraced the Roswell players to the end zone (38 yard pick 6). Miriam Berkem and Mallory Barnes recorded the other two interceptions. Meera Chauhan had both sacks, the second sack resulting in a safety. On offense, Mallory Barnes and Meera Chauhan hauled in TD passes while Scout Zeitlin added a PAT conversion pass.
LADY WAR EAGLES DOMINATE COLQUITT COUNTY 14-0
South Forsyth’s defense smothered Colquitt County, holding them to only 11 yards passing and 77 yards of total offense. Selah Brindle had 2 interceptions and Reese Epstein added the other interception. Sophia Vallianatos led the defense with 5 tackles. Sammie Sarkady and Meera Chauhan both had sacks for the Lady War Eagles. On offense, QB Cameron completed 14 passes for 126 yards, including TDs on two consecutive possessions in the first half. Brock rushed for an additional 37 yards on 5 carries. Vallianatos hauled in the first TD for 9 yards and Sarkady added the second TD on a 24 yard pass from Brock. Reese Epstein added one PAT conversion and Quincy Hilton ran 3 yards for the second conversion. Hilton led in receptions withy 5 for 39 yards.
SOUTH FORSYTH IS SHUT OUT BY MILTON 19-0
The Lady War Eagles had a bit of a letdown after playing one of their best games of the year against Colquitt County and dropped the nightcap to Milton 19-0. QB Cameron Brock completed 8 passes for 69 yards and added 25 rushing yards. Quincy Hilton had 4 catches for 24 yards and Sophia Vallianatos had 2 for 31, including the longest play of the night, a 27 yard reception late in the second half. On defense, Selah Brindle and Sammie Sarkady led eth team with 3 tackles each. Sarkady had the game’s only sack.
LADY WAR EAGLES DOMINATE SEQOUYAH FOR MOST OF THE GAME AND SURVIVE A LATE COMEBACK
South Forsyth led Sequoya 20-0 well into the 4th quarter but allowed 2 long TD passes to cut the final score to 20-13. QB Cameron Brock and Sophia Vallianatos led the War Eagles; Brock was 21 for 26 for 198 yards, 3 TDs and 2 PAT conversion passes, while adding 23 rushing yards. Vallianatos had a season high 8 catches for 87 yards, 2 TDs, and several others for key first downs. On defense, she led the team with 4 tackles, Mya Wende had a nice 26 yard TD catch and added an interception on defense. Reese Epstein had one PAT conversion as did Caroline Harrington.
LADY WAR EAGLES SWEEP SENIOR NIGHT BY SHUTTING OUT PEACHTREE RIDGE 7-0
South Forsyth made a valiant goal line stand late in the third quarter and outlasted Peachtree Ridge in the nightcap of Senior Night by a score of 7-0. QB Cameron Brock threw for 100 yards, including a TD pass and PAT conversion pass; both to Reese Epstein. She also ran for 66 yards, picking up a couple of critical first downs. Epstein led the receivers with 6 catches for 44 yards. Sophia Vallianatos had 4 catches and Quincy Hilton had 3. On defense, Selah Brindle and Hilton had the outstanding plays – Brindle pulled the Peachtree Ridge QB’s flag on 4th down at the half yard line while Hilton grabbed a key interception in the 4th quarter, out-muscling the Peachtree Ridge receive for control of the ball. Vallianatos and Mya Wende led the team with 5 tackles each while Brock had 4. Wende also had two TD-saving flag pulls during the contest. Meera Chauhan had 1 sack and 1 tackle for loss while Vallianatos had an incredible 3 flag pulls behind the line of scrimmage.
SHORT-HANDED LADY WAR EAGLES PULL OUT HARD FOUGHT COME FROM BEHIND VICTORY OVER BUFORD 20-14
With only 9 players to Buford’s 25, South Forsyth dug down deep and dominated the second half against Buford. Trailing at halftime, the Lady War Eagles scored the only points in the second half and held Buford to less than 40 yards of offense in the second half. QB Cameron Brock was solid all night, completing 19 of 29 passes for 165 yards and 2 TDs and 2 PAT pass conversions. She added 53 yards on the ground. Sophia Vallianatos led the team with 6 catches for 48 yards, including a TD. Quincy Hilton had a 30 yard pick 6 and also caught 6 passes, including one for a TD and one for a PAT. Mya Wende had two key interceptions in the game. Selah Brindle led the team with 7 tackles, 2 pass break ups, and a sack. Mallory Barnes caught the other PAT on a great catch via a deflection.
SOUTH FORSYTH COMPLETES SWEEP OF THE DOUBLEHEADER BY BEATING JOHNS CREEK 27-13
A short-handed Lady War Eagles team, playing in back to back games with the vast majority of the team playing both ways, played valiantly throughout the contest and defeated John Creek 27-13. QB Cameron Brock ran for 2 TDs and passed for 2, while adding 3 PAT conversion passes and a game-sealing interception in the end zone as Johns Creek was driving in an attempt to tie the game. Brock was 19 for 28 for 163 yards and added 70 rushing yards. Sophia Vallianatos made several spectacular grabs and had both TD catches and a PAT conversion catch. The ever-reliable Quincy Hilton had 5 catches for 46 yards. Mallory Barnes and Selah Brindle hauled in the other two PAT conversions. On defense, Brindle led the team with 6 tackles. Mya Wende added another TD-saving tackle, her second of the evening.
LADY WAR EAGLES COME FROM BEHIND TO DOMINATE WEST FORSYTH IN FIRST REGION GAME 32-12
South Forsyth spotted the Wolves an early TD but never really looked back, scoring 5 TDs on offense and had 3 interceptions and 2 sacks on defense. QB Camerson Brock had a particularly impressive night, completing a season-high 26 passes for 195 yards, 5 TDs and 2 PAT pass conversions. Quincy Hilton had 5 catches, 2 for touchdowns and added an extra point. Mya Wende had a whopping 9 receptions for 55 yards, including a TD and 1 PAT. Sophia Vallianatos, as usual, made several great catches in key spots (5 catches for 53 yards). The other TDs were scored by Ella Thongsouk and Sammie Sarkady. On defense, Brock had 2 interceptions and a pass break-up along with Hilton who had an interception and a pass break-up. Vallianatos led the team with 7 tackles while Wende had 5, including a TD-saving tackle. Sela Brindle had 2 sacks and Meera Chauhan added another sack.
SOUTH FORSYTH OUTLASTS CAMBRIDGE 19-6 BY MAKING A GOAL LINE STAND AND ADDING LATE SCORES
In a game where the Lady War Eagles had very few offensive drives, their defense bent but did not break in a non-region contest against Cambridge. Amazingly, Cambridge had the ball on offense the entire third quarter but were stopped at the 4 yard line on a fourth and goal. QB Cameron Brock was 12-21 for 101 yards, 1 TD and 1 PAT conversion pass. Mallory Barnes caught the only TD pass in the first half. Quincy Hilton added the PAT conversion. Brock also scampered 5 yards for a TD. The final TD was a 16 yard pick-6 by Freshman Sammie Sarkady. Sophia Vallianatos made several clutch catches for first downs. On defense, the star was Meera Chauhan who had 8 total tackles with 6 of them being sacks. She had a key sack with 2 minutes remaining in the game that sealed the win. Sela Brindle had 5 tackles and a sack while Vallianatos also had 5 tackles.
