DEFENSE IS STELLAR IN SEASON-OPENING 20-0 WIN
SFHS dominated Centennial 20-0 on Oct 3rd, with the defense holding the opposition to 0 yards passing and 3 yards rushing. Zethan Ajayi led the team with 8 tackles. Lily Brooks had 2 sacks and Meera Chauhan had one sack. On offense, QB Cameron Brock went 16-33 for 195 yards and 3 TD passes. Touchdowns were scored by Audrey Lavelle, Reese Epstein, and Sophia Vallianatos. Epstein had 4 catches for 70 yards while Vallianatos had 7 catches for 66 yards and added two PAT catches.
SOUTH FORSYH EARNS GREAT COME-FROM-BEHIND WIN VS. CHATTAHOOCHEE IN OVERTIME
On Oct 4th, SFHS beat Chattahoochee 19-12 in overtime. The defense played very well again with 3 interceptions (2 by Rese Epstein and 1 by Mya Wende). Mya Madden led the team with 4 tackles and 1 tackle for loss while Zethan Ajayi added a sack. On offense QB Cameron Brock was 15-27 for 135 yards and 3 TD passes. Touchdowns were scored by Reese Epstein (2) and Sophia Vallianatos (1 plus 1 PAT). Epstein had 4 catches for 80 yards, Vallianatos added 6 for 35 yards and Audrey Lavelle had 4 receptions.
SOUTH FORSYTH WINS OVERTIME THRILLER 7-6 VS. NORTH GWINNETT
In one of the most exciting games played in the last few seasons, SFHS pulled out a 7-6 overtime victory over North Gwinnett on Oct 4 (their second overtime victory in the same night). Our defense was superb, shutting out the visitors for 4 quarters, holding North Gwinnett to only 70 total yards. Zethan Ajayi led the team with 6 tackles, Mya Madden had 4. Lily Brooks added 2 tackles for loss, while Reese Epstein recorded another interception. On offense, QB Cameron Brock was 17-35 for 139 yards. Brock had 47 yards rushing and ran 10 yards for the game-tying score in OT and Reese Epstein caught the game winning PAT. Sophia Vallianatos had 7 catches for 74 yards, Reese Epstein had 5 catches for 34 yards, and Audrey Lavelle had 4 catches.
DEFENSE SHUTS DOWN CREEKSIDE in 21-0 WIN
The Lady War Eagles defense held Creekside to only 68 total yards. Lou Corbitt had an interception and Audrey Lavelle led the team with 4 tackles. Lily Brooks and Sophia Vallianatos each had a Tackle for Loss (TFL). On offense, QB Cameron Brock was a very efficient 17 for 22 for 144 yards, 3 TD passes and 3 PAT scores. Sophia Vallianatos had a whopping 9 catches for 91 yards, 2 TDs and 1 PAT. Reese Epstein added 5 catches for 35 yards, 1 TD and 1 PAT.
LADY WAR EAGLES SUFFER FIRST LOSS OF THE SEASON TO POPE 33-12
Unfortunately, SFHS got behind big very early in their game vs. Pope and just simply couldn’t recover. The Lady War eagles scored on the first and last possessions of the game and were driving near the goal line when the game ended; but Pope dominated the first half. QB Cameron Brock was 14-30 for 144 yards and 2 TD passes but threw 3 interceptions. Sophia Vallianatos led the team in yardage with 67 on 5 receptions. Audrey Lavelle had 6 catches for 46 and a beautiful 23 yard TD catch. SFHS’ other TD was by Mya Wende who hauled in a 10 yard TD pass. The Lady War Eagles play improved significantly in the second half, outscoring Pope 6-0 and slighty outgaining them.
LADY WAR EAGLE SURVIVE A LATE SURGE AND DEFEAT CHATTAHOOCHEE 13-7 IN FIRST GAME OF INVITATIONAL
SFHS scored 2 first half TDs and held on to win 13-7 against the Cougars in a very competitive game. The defense registered 3 interceptions (2 by Mya Wende and 1 by Scout Zeitlin) and 3 Tackles for Loss (2 by Lilly Brooks and 1 by Palak Jumani). Sophia Vallianatos also contributed 2 pass break ups and a TD-saving tackle. On offense, QB Cameron Brock competed 11 of 23 passes for 86 yards, including 1 TD pass to Reese Epstein and 1 PAT pass to Audrey Lavelle. Brock also gained 53 yards on the ground, including a TD. Scout Zeitlin added 3 receptions for 3 6 yards.y in the second half, outscoring Pope 6-0 and slighty outgaining them.
EPSTEIN’S INTERCEPTIONS LEAD THE LADY WAR EAGLES TO A 28-12 VICTORY OVER CHEROKEE
Reese Epstein retuned an interception 19 yards of the very first play of the game and later added a second interception she returned 30 yards to inside the 5 yard line. Lily Brooks added a sack and a Tackle for Loss. South Forsyth scored all 28 of its points in the first half. QB Cameron Brock was 9-23 and threw 2 TD and 3 PAT passes, and added a 6 yard TD run. Scout Zeitlin had 2 catches for 42 yards, one a beautiful 39-yard TD reception and the other a successful PAT. Audrey Lavelle led the team with 6 catches, one of which was a touchdown. She also ran 3 yards for a PAT. Mya Wende added the other P{AT with a 3 yard catch.
POPE DOMINATES LADY WAR EAGLES 27-0
For the second time in a week, Pope, the #2 ranked team in the state of Georgia, defeated South Forsyth 27-0 in the third game of the Flag Football Invitational. Although they were shut out, the Lady War Eagles collected 9 first downs, their highest single game total this season. Cameron Brock was 10-13 for 90 yards and added 50 yards on the ground. Reese Epstein garnered the majority of the receptions and yardage, with 7 catches for 75 yards.
LADY WAR EAGLES LOSE FINAL GAME OF THE FLAG FOOTBALL INVITATIONAL 7-0 TO SEQUOYAH
Although the offense struggled most of the game, the defense played very well in the loss, holding the Warriors to only 104 yards of total offense. Mya Wende had an interception and there were 3 sacks – 2 by Lily Brooks and 1 by Palak Jumani. Audrey Lavelle and Lou Corbitt led the team in tackles.
LADY WAR EAGLES DOMINATE NORTH FORSYTH 19-0 IN FIRST REGION GAME
On defense, the War Eagles were led by Lily Brooks (3 sacks and 1 TFL), Sophia Vallianatos (1 sack and 1 TFL), and a superb interception by Mya Wende who returned it 45 yards for a TD. On offense, QB Cameron Brock was 19-32 for 167 yards, 2 TDs and 1 PAT. Brock added 29 yards rushing on 5 attempts. Reese Epstein had a TD catch as well as a PAT reception. Riley Tomlinson scored the other TD. Vallianatos had 48 yards receiving and Wende added 47 yards, including a nice 31 yard bomb. The War Eagles outgained the Raiders by a 3-1 margin (196 to 68).
SFHS COMPLETES A VERY SOLID NIGHT BY BLANKING WEST FORSYTH 20-0
On defense, Scout Zeitlin and Cameron Brock had interceptions, Katherine Kolgani had a sack and Sophia Vallianatos and Lou Corbitt added tackles for loss. Mya Wende added 3 pass break-ups. On offense, QB Cameron Brock had a solid night, completing 20 of 26 passes for 182 yards, 3 TDs and 2 PATs. She added 43 rushing yards. Zeitlin had a whopping 9 catches for 65 yards, Vallianatos had 58 yards, 1 TD and 1 PAT. Corbitt and Wende had the other TD receptions while Audrey Lavelle had the remaining PAT.
BIG PLAYS AND SOLID DEFENSE HELP THE LADY WAR EAGLES BLANK LAMBERT 18-0
On defense, Mya Wende had an interception, Lily Brooks had a sack and Cameron Brock led the team with 6 tackles. On offense, 3 TD passes (2 by Brock and 1 by Caroline Harrington) did the damage. Wende had 5 catches for 62 yards and an 18 TD catch from Harrington, newcomer Savannah Oquendo had a stellar debut with 3 catches for 71 yards, including a 50 yard TD pass from Brock where she highlighted her speed. Lou Corbitt hauled in an 18 yard TD pass on a deflection.
LADY WAR EAGLES LOSE CLOSE GAME TO DENMARK 7-0, SUFFEREING THEIR FIRST REGION LOSS
On defense, Audrey Lavelle led the team with 8 tackles; Cameron Brock added 6 tackles and Lily Brooks recorded a sack. On offense, Lavelle led the team in catches with 5 for 45 yards. Scout Zeitlin has the biggest play – a 30 yard catch from Caroline Harrington.
STELLAR DEFENSE LEADS SFHS TO A 12-0 SHUTOUT OF KINGS RIDGE
The Lady War Eagles defense has recorded 4 shutouts in 6 region games. Mya Wende made an incredible TD-saving tackle in the second half by never giving up and sprinting 50 yards to catch the Kings Ridge player. The defense then stopped Kings Ridge on 8 consecutive plays inside the 10 yard line. SFHS recorded 9 plays for losses – 3 sacks and 6 Tackles for Loss. Catherine Kolgani had an incredible game with 5 tackles, 4 for losses. Audrey Lavelle led the team with 6 tackles, 3 for losses. Wende, Lou Corbitt, and Cameron Brock had interceptions. On offense, Wende led the team with 5 catches while QB Cameron Brock scored both TDs via short runs and led the team on the game-winning 71 yard drive late in the 4th quarter.
LADY WAR EAGLES FALL BEHIND EARLY; LATE COMEBACK NOT ENOUGH IN 19-12 LOSS TO FORSYTH CENTRAL
SFHS was behind 19-0 at halftime but showed resilience by mounting a comeback late against the Bulldogs. On offense, QB Cameron Brock was 16-34 for 174 yards and 2 TDs. She added another 47 rushing yards. TD catches were made by Savannah Oquendo and Scout Zeitlin. Sophia Vallianatos led the team in both receptions (4) and yardage (78). On defense, Audrey Lavelle again led the team in tackles with 6, including a sack and a pass break-up. Newcomer Oquendo continues to impress, adding 5 tackles.
